Barbara McClelland

Barbara Williams McClelland, 88, of Bogue Chitto, passed from this life April 4, 2020,

at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born May 2, 1932 to Oscar Frank Williams

and Cleo Blount Williams. She worked at the Brookhaven Library as Assistant Librarian

and she was a member of Mt Moriah Baptist Church.

Mrs. McClelland is preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. McClelland and her parents.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughters, Terry McClelland McDavid

and Ronda McClelland Schillaci; one granddaughter, Sandy Hogg Applewhite;

and one great grandson, Tay Hunter Applewhite.

Betty Evans

Mrs. Betty Ann Bowman Evans, 89, of Terrytown, LA, passed away April 3, 2020, in Houston, TX. She was born November 24, 1930, to William Irving Bowman and Axie Pittman Bowman. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and collecting butterfly memorabilia. She also Loved the color Purple. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and Great Grandmother and will be missed by all that loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, Rufus Leo Evans.

Those left to remember her are her son, Michael Leo Evans and wife Sandra, of Baton Rouge and daughters, Phyllis Ann Hoech, of Houston, TX, and Emily Alexis Evans, of Terrytown, LA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Mark Alan Brister

Private Graveside service for Mr. Mark Alan Brister, Monday, April 6, 2020, at Riverwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Mark Alan Brister, 54, went to be with his Lord on April 1, 2020, at his residence.

He was born on August 6, 1965, to Paul Daniel Brister and Charlotte Daughdrill Brister.

He was a Boilermaker and was a member of Topisaw Baptist Church.

Mark enjoyed watching NASCAR and college football, cooking, grilling, and being with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his father, Paul D. Brister; brother, Robbie Brister; grandparents, Ray and Nona Mae Daughdrill,

Melton and Tera Brister; and father-in-law, Jimmy G. Thames.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Andrea Brister; mother, Charlotte Brister; son, Austin Alan Brister, and girlfriend,

Anna Noble; daughter Kelly Mackenzie Brister, and special pets Marley Sue and Kasey Marie.

He is also survived by a sister, Angie Phelps, and husband, Donald and sister-in-law Tina Ates and

husband Eric; mother-in-law, Ada Thames; brother-in-law, Joe Thames; nieces, Jennifer Phelps,

Savannah LeBlanc and husband, James, Maddie Phelps; nephew, Dane Brister and wife, Rene; and

great-nephew, Colton Brister; and a very special aunt, Carol McDonald, along with a host of family and friends.

Holmes Elton "Buzzy" Cummings

Mr. Buzzy Cummings will have a private family graveside held on April 6, 2020 at Rosehill Cemetery.

Holmes Elton “Buzzy” Cummings, 81, of Bogue Chitto went to be with his Lord on

April 1, 2020 in Grand Prairie, TX. He was born on July 28, 1938 to the late

Raiford Homer Cummings and Aletha Sadler Cummings.

He enjoyed sports, as a student at Brookhaven High School, Mr. Cummings played basketball.

His greatest thrill was to spread the love of Jesus, to teach others of God’s love and mercy

through Bible Studies. He will be missed by all that loved him, but his legacy will live on.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Marietta Boone Cummings; infant daughter,

Tina Cummings; and sister, Ollie Boone.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jonathan David Cummings and wife, Debra;

daughter, Mary Karen Hollis and husband, Rev. Jack Hollis Jr; brothers, Nelson Cummings

and Gene Cummings wife Vivian; and three grandchildren, Christopher David Cummings,

Wesley David Cummings, and Jack Alexander Hollis III. He is also survived by his

mother-in-law, Earlene Boone; in-laws: Donald Boone, John and Ginger Jenkins, Billy

and LaNelle Huffty, and Ronnie and Jeralyn Scroggins.

Joyce Lydell Ellison

A graveside service for Mrs. Joyce Lydell Ellison will be Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Sylvarena Baptist Church Cemetery in Wesson, MS.

Joyce Lydell Ellison, 83, of Wesson, passed away April 2, 2020, at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

She was born on July 28, 1936 to the late Walter Alfred Howington and Ella Louise Jackson Howington.

Mrs. Ellison was a homemaker and loved to crochet. She was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. She was a previously a long-time member of Wesson Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member of the Dorcus Sunday School Class.

  

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Earl Ellison; brothers, Lynn Howington and Moak Howington; and sister, Margaret Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Billy Ellison and wife Teri; daughter Andra Farrish and husband Daniel; brothers Curtis Howington and wife Brenda, and Thomas Howington; and sister, Margaret Howington.

She is also survived by 2 grandaughters, Samantha Powell and Kelci Boone and husband Justin; and 3 great grandchildren, Ripken Powell, Ella Powell, and Tucker Boone.

Mitchel Lee Case

Mitchel Lee Case, 72, of Summit, passed away April 1, 2020, at Southwest Regional Medical Center.

He was born on November 16, 1947, to the late Memphis Case and Adie Case.

Mr. Case served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, also an avid hunter and fisherman,

animal lover and a loving and devoted grandfather, husband, and father.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jennifer Moak Case; daughters, Deanna and husband John Mickle of Florence,

Mollie and husband Lamar Greer of Jayess, and Amanda and husband Dayton Dodge of Vidalia.

He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Lauren Mickle, Vivien Morsi, Bailey Mickle, and Memphis Dodge and 3 great-grandchildren.

Howard Wayne Moak

There will be a private graveside service for Mr. Howard Wayne Moak, 11 a.m.,

Thursday, April 2, at Howard V. Moak Family Cemetery in Caseyville, MS.

Mr. Moak, 71, of Wesson, passed from this life March 30, 2020, at King’s Daughters

Medical Center in Brookhaven. He was born October 22, 1948 to Howard V. Moak

and Josie Mary Norton Moak. He was a retired truck driver.

Mr. Moak is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tracy Lynn Moak Mistich;

and brothers, Johnny Moak and Ellis Ray Moak.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his sons, Howard Wayne Moak, Jr. and

Anthony Brian Moak; brothers, Robert Wiley “R.W.” Moak and wife, Erma, Carroll Moak

and wife, Dolly, and Jimmy Moak and wife, Joy; sister, Rosemary Moak Pickering and husband,

Garry; six grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as a host of nieces and nephews

and other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ollie Grice Kyzar

Ollie Grice Kyzar, 86, of Rolling Fork and Brandon, Mississippi passed away March 29, 2020,

after a brief illness. She was born on October 7, 1933,

in Brookhaven, Mississippi to the late Marcell and Annie Brister Grice of Brookhaven.

She graduated from Brookhaven High School and attended Mississippi College and Wake Forest University.

She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education from Delta State University.

She was also a graduate of The Principal’s Center of Harvard University.

She and her husband, The Reverend Reese Kyzar, lived in Westfield, North Carolina and Shaw, Mississippi before making their home in Rolling Fork, Mississippi

where he was pastor of First Baptist Church for 36 years. She was a dedicated pastor’s wife has also been a Sunday School teacher,

choir member, and missions organizations, leader. In retirement, they have lived in Brandon, Mississippi.

She was a member of Flowood Baptist Church, Flowood, Mississippi.

Ollie will be remembered as a devoted elementary teacher, reading specialist, counselor and assistant principal who loved her students.

She was a strong advocate for education through her involvement and leadership roles in local, state and national education organizations.

Her career as an educator spanned four decades in the Rolling Fork and South Delta School District.

She enjoyed travel and time spent in the mountains at their cabin High Cotton in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

She also found great pleasure in treasure hunting for antiques and unique finds. She cared deeply for her friends and for many beloved pets over the years.

Ollie is survived by her husband of 66 years, The Reverend Reese Kyzar. She is predeceased by four brothers and one sister.

 

Family visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven on Wednesday, April 1 followed by a graveside

service at 2:00 p.m. at Rosehill Cemetery, Brookhaven, Mississippi Dr. Jim Futral will officiate.

If desired and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork, 73 North First Street, Rolling Fork, MS 39159

or to Flowood Baptist Church Building Fund, Flowood MS.

Layla Alexis Russell

Layla passed from this life March 25, 2020. She was born July 4, 2008, to

Buel Alexander Russell and Renee Dunaway. She was 11 years of age.

The Layla that we all loved and adored was one of a kind, a rare jewel.

She came into this world on the 4th of July and has been our little firecracker

ever since. She loved her family like there was no tomorrow and was a joy

to so many people’s life. To know her was to love her. She enjoyed life to the

fullest whether she was playing with her friends, riding 4 wheelers, going to

the river and as we all know using her beauty skills on anyone that would

let her male or female. This world will never be the same but oh what

rejoicing in heaven as they now have the joy that we all were blessed with

for such a short precious time. Please continue to pray for her loving

family and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Donnie Russell and Ramon Boyd.

Evander is the infant son of McKenzie Le’Shea White, born March 25, 2020, at Merit Health in Vicksburg, MS.

He is preceded in death by his great grandfather, Marty Britt; great, great grandfathers, Clyde Allred, Charles White, Paul Tolbert Sr. and Troy Britt; great, great grandmothers, Edith White, Nettie Jane Tolbert, and Pauline Britt.
