Cynthia Rene Rowells Jackson

The funeral service for Mrs. Cynthia Rene Rowells Jackson will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 12, at Riverwood Family with interment at Stronghope Baptist Church Cemetery in Copiah County. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, July 11, at Riverwood and will resume on Friday at 10 a.m. until time of the service.

Mrs. Jackson, 60, of Brookhaven, passed from this life July 9, 2019, at her residence. She was born May 1, 1959 to the late Huey and Lydia Rowells. She was retired from Delphi. Mrs. Jackson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending her retired years with family and she treasured her special little friend, Snazzy. She was a fan of her family, but she was also a Saint’s Football fan. Her friends and fellow church members at Union Hall Baptist Church will miss her presence there.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her husband, Gary Wayne Jackson; daughters, Misty, Julie, Heather, and special adopted daughter, Michelle; her brothers, Jerry and Greg; four grandchildren, Blake, Alyssa, Abby, Dokota, two dear to the heart kids, Cason and Charley.

Infant Tate Jordan LeCompte

Graveside service for infant Tate Jordan LeCompte will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 10 at Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.

Tate Jordan was born to Hunter Jordan LeCompte

and Melaynna LeShea Lambert July 5, 2019 and was

received back into the arms of Jesus, July 7, 2019.

He will forever be in our hearts.

Tate was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Jack R. Edmonds, Sr.

He is survived by his parents; grandparents,

Jackie Saujon, Saundra Dillon and Richard Nevels, and Jeffery LeCompte; great grandparents,

Kathy Roberts, Dianne LeCompte, and Nora Ann Price; his aunts, Saresa Pearce and

Kahlena Saujon; uncles, Noah LeCompte, Connar LeCompte, Ryan Nevels, Zach Nevels; and special

friends, Dawn and Josh Johnson and Amberly Jones as well as numerous other loving family members.

Oliver Hux

Services for Mr. Oliver Hux will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019, from 11:00 am at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with interment will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday Evening, July 7, 2019, from 5:00 – 9:00pm at Riverwood Family and will resume prior to service at the church at 10:00am.

Oliver Hux, 79, passed from this life on July 6, 2019, at his residence. He was born on July 6, 1940, to Berkley Conway Hux and Rena Mae Wilkerson Hux.

He is gone but not forgotten, retired as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, along with serving county jobs he enjoyed. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, working on vehicles, gardening, and using his hands-on wood crafts.

Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings, B.C. Hux, Jr and wife Geneva, Richard Hux and wife Mavis, Margie Cantrell and husband Cecil, Maryline Holley and husband Mark, Lettie Mae Hux Bales and a brother-in-law, Currie Lambert.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Mildred Hux, along with three children; son, Shawn Hux and wife Regina; daughters, Lisa Justice and Teresa Bump and husband Gary; grandchildren, Benjamin Hux, Brianna Hux, Crystal Hodges Moore and husband Daniel, Allison Justice, Doug Justice, Branden Bump, Hailey Bump, Nicole Gipson and husband Daryl, step grandchildren, Mitchell Leon and wife DeAnna, and Clarissa Travis and husband Chris along with 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Jessie Herbert Hux and wife Carolyn, Jerry Hux, David “D.D.” Hux and Rose and Linda Hux Lambert and a Host of Nieces and Nephews and other family and friends

Lucius Alton Allred

Funeral service for Mr. Lucius Alton Allred will be 3 p.m., Sunday, July 7, at Riverwood Family, with interment at

Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday, July 6, at Riverwood.

 

Reverends Dustin McDavid, Gary Harper, Paul Gabbard, and Stacey Kelly will officiate.

 

Lucius Alton Allred, 93, of Brookhaven, died July 4, 2019, at New Dawn Retirement in Ruth. He was born June 20, 1926, in Lincoln

County to the late Lucius Allred and Emma Vaughn Allred. 

He was a longtime active member in The First Church of the Nazarene in Brookhaven, and was involved in many functions of the church

until health no longer allowed him to do so. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. 

On April 5, 1947, he married the love of his life, Edith Rae Smith, whom he affectionately referred to as "the Ole Hen", and together they raised 

five children. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Mr. Allred began his working career as a butcher in Brookhaven and eventually built his own grocery store located on West Congress Street.

He later became involved in the oil field and he and his oldest son started Allred Tubing Testers, from which he retired. Before and after 

retiring, he and his wife traveled the United States in their motorhome, taking many trips lasting from one to three months. They were 

members of Campers on Mission and were blessed to have visited almost every state in the United States and would return home to share tales of their

adventures with the entire family.

HIs early passion was fox hunting and talking on his CB radio, where he was known as "the Red Fox". Later he spent many hours fishing the Mississippi

River for catfish, along with his mini pens, Jack and Lizzie.

Mr. Allred is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Edith Rae Smith Allred; one son, Steve Allred; and sister, Donnis Adams.

Survivors are his children and their spouses, Clara Coggins and Bill, of Columbus, Sue Godbold and Don, of Brookhaven, Keith Allred and Dale, of

Bogue Chitto, and Becky McDavid and Mike, of Brookhaven; sister, Doris Keifer, of Florence; his grandchildren and their spouses, Currie Prince

and Michael, Brad Godbold and Jennifer, Ben Allred, Sally Beth McCoullough and G.T., Rev. Dustin McDavid and Laura, Caleb McDavid and Kacie,

Daniel Allred and Mandy, Dasha Bond and Kenny, and Mason Allred; great grandchildren, Callaway Prince, CArsen Prince, Anna Prince, Mary Morgan Surrett 

and Eric, Molly Godbold, Luke Godbold, Lilli Johnson, Avery Johnson, Sally Grace McCoullough, Sam McCullough, Noah McDavid, Silas McDavid, Asher McDavid,

Payden McDAvid, Aria McDavid and Hannah McKee; and one great great granddaughter, Paisley Grace Prince.

 

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brad Godbold, Rev. Dustin McDavid, Caleb McDavid, Daniel Allred, Ben Allred, and Mason Allred. Honorary Pallbearers are Oscar Smith

and Roger Smith.

 

The Family would like to express their heart felt thanks to the New Dawn Retirement for the excellent care and love given to their faither and 

grandfather, and to Hospice Compassus for the compassion and care they gave to him and the entire family.

Mr. Wayne C. Rushing Sr., 65 passed away June 27, 2019 at Baptist Hospital

in Jackson. He was born on November 17, 1953 to the late Essey C. Rushing Sr. and Myrtle McClelland Rushing.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Charlene Carmichael and a host of aunts and uncles.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lona Mae Rushing; sons, Wayne Rushing Jr., Glenn Hodges and wife Carol Ann,

Greg Hodges and wife Susie and Paul Dunn Jr. and wife Denise; daughters, Melissa Barrett and husband Richie,

Kami Burage and husband Calvin, Rhonda Pelligrin and husband Rod and Debra Messenger and husband Ted;

brother, Essey C. Rushing, Jr. and sisters, Brenda Cline and Linda Watkins.

He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ludie Mae Wilson, 89, went to be with her Lord on June 27, 2019 at Silver Cross Nursing Home.

She was born on April 21, 1930 to the late Eugene “Genie” Hall and Maude Kyzar Hall.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mallalieu Methodist Church.

She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George Buford Wilson;

daughters, Eula Mae Kimble and Sherry A. Wilson; son, Buford Wilson, Jr.;

and granddaughter, Lora Malone; sisters, Nell Smith, Lillian Lofton, Winnie Cannon;

brothers, J.E. Hall, Paul Hall, Bobbie Hall and Jack Hall.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Joe Wilson and sister, Vedia Grace Givens;

12 grandchildren, Vicky Jarreau, Joey Wilson and wife, Lee, Amy Kyzar and husband Dewayne, Jason Wilson,

at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven, MS, with visitation from 12:00 until time of service.

Interment will be at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Mt. Hermon, LA.

 

Mrs. Janice Elizabeth Snell Williams,74 of Bogue Chitto, passed away June 26, 2019 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson.

She was born on February 6, 1945 to the late, Harold M. Snell and Lillie Mae Desmond Snell.

She was a member of First Methodist Church Brookhaven where she retired as a financial secretary.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Alva James Williams and brother, Douglas Snell.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, James Richard Williams and wife, Cindy, David Scott Williams and wife, Sherry;

granddaughters, Jessica Williams and Tiffany Harris; grandsons, Kris Douglas and wife, Michelle,

Troy Douglas and wife Ashley, Andi Douglas and wife, Erin, Kyle Dantzler and Stormy Boyte.

She is also survived by her sister, Camille Condalary and brother Wayne Snell and great grandson, David Williams and 10 other great grandchildren.

Russell Myers Slay

Services for Mr. Russell Myers Slay of Wesson are 1:00 pm Wednesday June 26, 2019

at Sylvarena Baptist Church with interment at the church cemetery.

Visitation is from 10:00 until time of service at the church.

 

Mr. Russell Myers Slay, 75, went to be with his Lord on June 25, 2019 at his residence surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on October 1, 1943 to the late Harold Alexander Slay and Susie Nell Myers Slay.

Mr. Slay served his country in the United States Army National Guard and was a retired Lineman

for Entergy for 48 years and was a member of Sylvarena Baptist Church. He loved working for Entergy and serving

the community. Known as Pop by all who knew him. He loved playing domino’s, cards (poker) and making loops through the country.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Pat Slay King and Betty Slay Keywood and brother, Von Slay.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jo Slay; daughters, Julie Slay Lowery and husband, Danny,

Jennifer Slay Smith and husband, Nick; sisters, Debbie Slay Nance, Ann Slay Weeks;

brother, Jimmy Slay; sister-in-law, Brenda Slay; grandsons,

Mr. Johnny Mitchell Smith, 69, went to be with his Lord on June 24, 2019

at Select Speciality Hospital in Jackson, with his wife and kids by his side.

He was born on July 20, 1949 to the late Frank Elvin Smith and Neta Fay Smith Smith.

Mr. Smith was a retired pipefitter and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling in his motor home.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Marilyn Dickey Smith; sons, Chris Smith and wife Brandy

and Eric Smith and girlfriend, Wendy Reeves Smith. He is also survived by

4 grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Gracie Smith, Trevor Smith and Slay Acy;

his lifelong friend, Keith Byrd and Boo, his black poodle whom he dearly loved.

Kenneth Andrew Fugler

Funeral service for Mr. Kenneth Andrew Fugler will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019,

at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven, MS, with interment

at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County. Visitation begins 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday.

 

Mr. Fugler, 64, of Brookhaven, ended his journey here on earth June 22, 2019.

He began this life’s journey August 13, 1954, born to William Birskey Fugler and Lessie Henry Fugler,

whom have preceded him in death. Mr. Kenneth was retired from Law Enforcement,

working as a Louisiana Correctional Officer for many years. He also worked with the Baton Rouge Zoo

and was a Licensed Mississippi Gardener and a member of Damascus Baptist Church.

Mr. Kenneth enjoyed several hobbies including gardening, hunting and fishing.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all those who loved him.

 

Preceding him in death are his parents and his first wife, Debbie Smith Fugler.

 

Those left to hold his memory close to their hearts are, his wife, Wanda Gayle Fugler;

daughters, Grace Pickering and Pamela Samson and husband, Kenneth;

brother, Gary Fugler and wife, Stephanie; one grandson, Kenneth Charles Samson, Jr.;

and a host of nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
