The funeral service for Sybil Carmen Jackson Freeman will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, at Riverwood Family with burial in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, at Riverwood and will resume from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Sybil was a faithful and loving wife to her sweetheart, Joe Freeman, and a caring mom and grandmother to their children and grandchildren. She was born September 8, 1945, to Martin Mitchell Jackson and Anita Inez Stroud Jackson, she ended her journey here on Saturday, January 11, 2025, she was 79 years of age. She worked for the Brookhaven School District as a bus driver and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Mrs. Freeman loved spending time with her husband, Joe, and her children, she adored going fishing with her grandchildren and watching them play baseball games. Most of her time she spent swinging on her back porch, enjoying the outdoors and admiring her flowers. She loved being one of the “Golden Girls” spending time with her lifelong friends for birthday outings and shopping sprees. Her heart was always set on her love for Jesus and being a part of her church functions. She loved her chickens and her flowers.
Preceding her in death was her parents; Martin Mitchell Jackson and Anita Inez Stroud Jackson; sister, Margie Jackson Smith, brothers, Edwin Jackson and John Wesley (J.W.) Jackson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Joe Freeman; sons, Joe Freeman II, and wife Connie and Tim Freeman; daughters, Nancy Reynolds and Amy Powell and husband Chris. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Ricky Joseph (RJ) Reynolds, Martin Jackson (Marty) Reynolds, Cody Henderson, Brent Henderson, Grant Reynolds, Jackson Freeman, Makenna Freeman and Makayla Freeman; and 12 great grandchildren.
