Catherine E. "Jean" Lambert

Funeral service for Mrs. Catherine E. Lambert will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Freedom Church, with interment

at Robert’s Memorial Cemetery in Lawrence County. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, August 2 at Freedom Church

and will resume at Noon on Tuesday before the service.

Mrs. Catherine E. Lambert, better known to everyone as “Jean”, was born on January 28, 1945, to Mrs. Eunice H. Thames and

William Garrison. She was born in Tylertown, MS, and lived the majority of her life in Jayess, MS. She attended and graduated

from Topeka-Tilton School where she fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Cleveland Lambert. They were wed on

October 29th, 1963 and remained so until Cleveland preceded her in death on July 16, 1999.

She is survived by their loving daughter, Angela Kay Dunaway, married to J. Dewayne Dunaway, both of Jayess, MS.

She is preceded in death by their beloved son, Timothy C. Lambert, on May 6, 1996.

Jean had a granddaughter Ashlie Payne, married to Kaleb Payne, and two grandsons, Zane Wilson and Zachary Dunaway.

She also had three great-grandchildren (Keegan Foster, Kylen Payne, and Aliza Payne) who brought her much joy.

Nursing was the career that Jean pursued, and she graduated in the 1st class of Associate Degree Nursing from the

Southwest MS Junior College in Summit, MS. She enjoyed and excelled at nursing for almost 40 years, working in

diverse areas and touching many lives. She spent many of those years in management or supervisory roles, beginning

at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello, MS. She later transitioned her career to King’s Daughter’s Medical Center

(KDMC), where she would retire after 30 years of service.

Jean, later in her life, met and married Jesse Alexander in March 2007 and remained so until he preceded her in death

on February 7, 2010. Through this marriage she gained a stepdaughter Wanda Miller, married to Kim Miller, and

step-son Philip Alexander, married to Nelwyn Alexander, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed being a part of Freedom Church, her family, flower-gardening, volunteering at KDMC ED, and shopping

with her bestie – Lanell Lambert. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed doing so with family and friends, rarely declining an adventure.

Our beloved, mother, grandmother, friend, and nurse to all, went peacefully to be with Jesus, whom she loved dearly,

on July 31, 2021. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her, and her legacy will never be forgotten.

Loved this sweet friend and enjoyed going to church together for several years at New Bethel Jesus Name Church where she had many dear friends who loved and admired her sweet spirit and smiles. She is missed already and will be forever in our hearts. God bless her family during this time of loss and grief. He will be your comfort.

One of my favorite nurses to work alongside. Jean was a fine Christian woman whose love for Jesus was evident in her life and in her work. She will be missed but Love remains!

Angie, I was so sorry to read about your mother’s passing. It was always a treat to see Jean unexpectedly and catch up on our families. She was a good nurse, a good supervisor, and, even more important, a good woman. She will definitely be missed. My prayers are with you and your family.
